🚀 A Nostalgic Time Machine Back to the 80s and 90s

VARIEGATOR is bringing back the magic of the classic rental video store—think rows of VHS covers, a favorite movie clutched in your hand, and the buzz of finding something new to watch on a Friday night.

This pop-up event at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books is inspired by Japan’s golden era of video rentals, with TSUTAYA as a household name for many. For two special weeks, VARIEGATOR is reviving that culture with a nostalgic and immersive experience.

🎥 Featuring Back to the Future – Travel Through Time

Back to the Future

A highlight of the event is a special Back to the Future theme, complete with a replica DeLorean time machine on display. Step into the shop and feel like you’ve time-slipped back to 1985.

The setup is designed to capture the feeling of walking into a vintage video store—with all the thrill and wonder of a past era.

VARIEGATOR celebrates a time when weekends meant wandering the city, searching for that one perfect film. Holding a video case in one hand and a big bag in the other, the act of choosing a movie was more than just entertainment—it was part of growing up.

In an age where streaming is instant, VARIEGATOR reminds us of the joy found in physical spaces, meaningful conversations, and tangible memories. The shop was a meeting place, a treasure hunt, and a home for our cinematic youth.

This event isn’t just about products—it’s about preserving a feeling. It’s a tribute to the excitement we felt every time we stepped through the door of a video store.
